Christmas

I went down to San Diego and spent Christmas break with Shawna, Bret, Josephine and the family. It was great seeing everyone down there again. It has been over a year since I had gone down that way to see everybody. Josie is growing up quick. When Shawna took me with her to pick up Josie I wasn’t sure she would remember me. To my surprise, once she saw me her eyes lit up and she ran around excited. On the 24th Shawna’s birthday we went out to a great meat market/restaurant to celebrate. Her usual birthday meal of lobster was missed this year since there is going to be a new addition to the family in March. So instead this year she had a good sized steak wrapped in bacon. Later that day Bret brought out Shawna’s birthday cake.

Thanks to Bret, Shawna was able to have her lobster on her birthday after all.
The rest of the images are an assortment from the 24th and the 25th.

Family Photo

Taking a family photo is almost impossible since my brother hate anyone taking his picture. I have no idea how my mom talked my brother into it, but he did not disappoint with his inability to try to have fun in the picture. He would not smile and made it fairly clear that he did not want to be there. After a while he loosened up some, but was still a pain.

I would like to thank Krista for helping to take the pictures.

Faculty Dance Concert

This was the last of the events that I shot for the Theater Department this year. The lighting in this show is what I was really looking forward to seeing. I was in the Lighting Design Class this semester and as a finial project most of the students designed the lighting for the dance pieces. The lighting and the dances all looked great.

After the Wedding Class got out a few of us went out with Greg to go shooting. We went over shooting for someone that is backlit and a few other techniques. While we were out there I wound up getting these shots.

Greg also gave a couple of us a chance to play with the new Lensbaby Composer. It is a fun lens but still hard to get something in focus once you finally look at it on your computer.

There where also some other photos from that day which I have decided not to post. Next time Chris wants Greg to give him a lesion on how to pose someone “romantically” he needs to have models that are not us.

Time of Your Life

Well, I went back to the Cypress College Theater Department and shot another show. The show was great, but the seating was arranged in a way I never come across before. With the seating set up as stadium seating, trying to keep the audience out of shots was not easy. While it made it a little difficult to shot I think I still got some good shots.

Super Tuesday

Vote early and vote often. I really believe in that statement. Without the citizens of this country voting, we leave ourselves open to a government that feels it does not have to answer to its people. With that said, this is one of the first elections that I was really proud to take part in. This election more people took time out of there busy lives to vote for the next President of the United States. Because of the popularity of this election, more people that would not have voted went out and became more active in our government. By voting for our next President they also voiced there opinions on other issues and bonds. This is truly an election to be proud of being a part of. The Presidential race also made history with Barack Obama becoming the President Elect and will be our next President in January. Even though I was a John McCain supporter, I congratulate Barack Obama on winning the long fought race. This was the toughest Presidential race for me since I began voting in the 2000 election. I really wasn’t sure which way I would vote until I was at the polling place standing in front of the voting machine. I hope that the changes that Barack Obama has talked about will come and be beneficial to all the people of this fine country. Democracy in action, whether you agree with all the choices that were made or not at least you had the chance to help choose.

Just a Tree

For about the passed year or so I have seen this tree lit up at night and have thought I should take a picture of it. Every time I saw the florescent lights on the tree it would really bring out the greens. So the other night I decided to finally took the picture. After looking at the tree I noticed something different but at the time I could not place what it was. Once I started correcting the color in the image that is when I noticed why I thought it looked different. The leaves had just started to change color for the fall. It was funny how I could see something so often and just pass by not taking the picture because I thought it would always be there. Well just another lesson learned about missed opportunities. I will be going back to this tree in the spring and get the actual picture that I remember that I wanted to capture.

The Little One's First Photo Shoot

Krista’s niece came by the other day for a portrait session. There is nothing like being a week old and already starting to model for the camera. Krista’s cousin Ashley brought Isabelle by to get some pictures for a mailing letters to let the family know when she was born. I just decided to take some pictures while Krista was setting up.

Photo Kick Boxing

There was nobody left working in the lab last night after about 8p.m., so Grace and Kristen decide to work up a little sweet with practicing for there kick boxing class. After they traded off several punches and kicks, they showed me a work out move that they’ve been doing in class. It was a crunch where you have to pull your legs up to your body and lift your back up at the same time. As we where all on the floor try this Greg happens to walk in to the department. I guess it looked a bit funny, the three of us lying on the floor doing crunches together, because he immediately started laughing. Later after Greg left Rob came over and had some fun watching us and participating a little to.

Mike’s Wedding

Well it was a great day for a Wedding. It would have also been night if I got to see the ceremony, but Grace, Randy and myself where about 5 minutes too late. Well, Ron was there video taping it so I’ll be able to see it once he has a chance to edit it, plus Yvette and Roman where the taking pictures. The Reception afterwards was nice. It was in the backyard area of the Madison’s Restaurant in Laguna. They have some great salads and a cozy atmosphere. Although I did find out while editing my photos that the background could be a little busy with all the nick-knacks for sale, it really isn’t that bad while your there.
